Soft Cell Discography |
Soft Cell
Soft Cell are
most famous for their smash hit single,
Tainted Love, a cover of
a sixties soul song by Gloria Jones. The
electric duo of vocalist Marc Almond and synthesiser player Dave Ball
met at university on an arts course.
They were well known for their outrageous music with songs such as Sex
Dwarf and very sex-high videos.
But the pair quickly chalked up a number of memorable hits including
Bedsitter and
What! before splitting in 1984.
Their music has been covered by acts such as The Pussycat Dolls, Marilyn Manson and David
Gray plus Tainted Love has been sampled by artists like Rihanna.
In 2002 they reformed and released a new album and the single
The Night went top 40.
Recently Marc was injured in a motorcycle crash, although both he and
Dave plan to play again once he is fully recovered. In fact Dave is even planning
another Soft Cell album.
