Kylie Minogue kicked off her European tour in
what is fast becoming her trademark - thigh high
silver boots.
The double Brit Award winner wowed her
6,000-strong audience last night in a sparkling
mirco-miniskirt, bra top, chocker and even wrist
bands to match.
Her series of outfits - which included a Moulin Rouge
style corset - were inspired by the 1970s film A
Clockwork Orange, Star Trek and TV's Doctor Who.
But the highlight of her nine costume changes came when
the pint-size star appeared to grow 15ft tall.
She was lifted in air singing Burning Up while
her dress, made from 200 yards of fabric, rolled
to the ground.
Terminator
It
was even more than an eye-opener for fans of the
singer who caused a stir when she performed in
thigh-length silver boots and a bodiced
microdress at the Brit Awards in February.
Then the 33-year old singer won best international
female and best international album for Fever.
Last night's £4 million show at Cardiff opened with the
Australian appearing in a Terminator-style
robot - a £40,000 design made from a cast of
her body.
The diminutive diva wore her hair in long plaits and
Dolce & Gabbana outfits for the first night
of her Fever 2002 concerts.
The European tour is taking in Manchester, Birmingham,
Sheffield and Wembley Arena.
Not even a sore throat could stop her performing. As
Kylie told her audience when her voice began
to falter: "You have to excuse me. I have
not been feeling well recently and I have a
frog in my throat.
