What do you want the new album to sound like?

Postby March On Down The Line » Thu Jan 21, 2010 4:59 pm

With the new album due to be recorded this year I thought it was a good idea to ask what kind of style the new album should be?
It's been 3 years since Light At The End Of The World was released and now Vince has moved the 37B studio to his new home in Maine allowing him full use of his hardware collection.
I personally would want something that sounded similar to Vince's mix of 'Issues' for the Saturdays. It sounded just right with some great underlying synths, a good dancey beat and a classic Vince feel. With that kind of musical style mixed with Andy's vocals and with the Erasure melodies I think we could be onto a winner.

Any further ideas?

Well I would like for it to be a completely different sound to what we are used to hearing from them. Certainly not a retro sound like Depeche Mode gave us with this latest album.

I'd like it to sound more like Erasure and less like a gay band as in the case of Light At The End Of The World (I Could Fall In Love With You is such a generic love song) i wouldn't use the phrase back track but the use of Hard Synths over soft is a must in my eyes. I want it to sound like mix between Nightbird and Cowboy and it needs more robust song topics as a pose to just love and even then the love songs should be about pain and fighting a feeling you don't want insead of just the generic i love you and i want to be with you.
They need a song you can get up and dance to a new signature song in the mold of A Little Respect a song the screams Erasure and shows off Vince's Synth Wizardry. i know i can still do it his remix of Stop for Pop Remixed is just class the Bleeps sound almost Chorus-esque.

I believe that would work for a new Erasure album with what Opalfruit is saying. Something a bit more with depth and different direction than what you can expect from Erasure.

I'm hoping for upbeat material like Light at the end of the World, but a more evolved style...

Always good to hear what the boys can suprise us with!
